Super Search: Professional Information Search Service

A Super Search is a literature and reference search done by a professional Librarian for a patron. The Librarian is the mediator between the information and the user. The advantage of a Super Search in todays world of shifting databases and expanded electronic resources is significant or even critical in that it has become far more difficult to know where and how to look for information, as well as know what the date and content limitations are associated with particular databases.

You may request a search by:

  • telephone during these hours:
    Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

  • in person at the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor of the HSC Libraries
    (during the hours listed above)

  • submit our online form

  • standard mail to:

When requesting a search, provide as much detailed information about your topic as possible. If you know of a good article on the topic, please provide the citation so that we can use it to find similar articles. Please include your name, billing address and phone number.

A reference librarian will complete the search within 48 hours of receiving it, using such databases as MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, or others. You may be contacted by the librarian doing your search for further clarification of your topic. Search results will consist of a list of bibliographic citations on your topic, with or without abstracts. The search results may be picked up, mailed, or emailed (if available).
