LibGuide See 'Nita Ferree's LibGuides!
LibGuides are subject guides, course guides and other resources developed by your HSC Librarians!

As your Liaison Librarian, 'Nita can:

Serve faculty, staff and students as a guide to and troubleshooter for accessing and gathering information from library resources
Consult with individuals and groups via phone, email or in person to determine information needs
Teach classes or give presentations on the art of database searching and library skills
Conduct literature searches for clinicians and researchers including those necessary for animal use alternatives (IACUC)
Take requests for additions to the HSC Libraries' collection

'Nita gained practical experience in nearly all library functions by working in a public library system while earning her degrees. As a reference librarian, she worked with patrons of all types and ages, but her favorite questions were those concerning consumer health information. In 2002, she joined the University of Florida's HSC Libraries' Reference staff as an Instructor Librarian.

'Nita has been developing the HSC Libraries' collection in her liaison areas, and follows several discipline-specific discussion lists. She selects books, journals, audiovisuals and electronic resources to add to the Libraries' current materials and receives requests for purchases as well. She assists coworkers and teaches her own classes on HSC Libraries' resources. Her delight in learning and teaching inspires her classes and reference work. 'Nita is also very active on electronic reference and Super Searches.

If you have any questions about resources available for these program areas, or you would like to integrate library instruction into your course curriculum, please contact 'Nita Ferree at or e-mail her at
