As your Liaison Librarian Mary can:

Teach literature searching/library research skills to students as part of their credit classes
Assist in the library's acquisition of databases, journals, videos and books in your discipline
Conduct literature searches (including IACUC searches) for faculty and researchers
Work individually with faculty/students/staff to identify, gain access to and efficiently use appropriate information resources

Mary's experience as a distance learning master's student provides unique insight to the challenges faced by HSC distance education students.

Since joining the HSC Libraries' faculty in 2004, Mary has focused on distance education, attending the Association of College and Research Libraries' meetings and serving on ACRL's Distance Learning Section committees.

Why I Wanted to Become a Librarian

"I had been working in the library as a student assistant for three years while studying history and taking pre-med classes. At my end of the third-year evaluation, my supervisor told me if I decided not to study medicine I should seriously consider library science because I enjoyed my work immensely and seemed to have a knack for it. All summer I thought about what my supervisor said and decided that medical librarianship suited me better than the practice of medicine.

I just wish I made that decision before I took organic chemistry..."
