of Library users.

Blue Room remains open for currently registered students of
the 6 HSC Colleges ONLY. Periodic patrols are done by UPD and
students without HSC ID's are asked to leave.
University Police telephone number is 392-1111
The Blue Room is not intended as a meeting, recreation,
or banquet hall, and boisterous socializing is not allowed.
No food or drinks are allowed.
Patron Notice:
Your cooperation in keeping the area clean, by discarding your
trash in the proper receptacles provided, will help us maintain
a pleasant and safe study environment around the clock.
Cellular Phones and Pagers
HSC Library users are requested to set cellular phones and
pagers to vibrate. If that is not an option on your device please
use the lowest ringer/alert volume.
Please leave the library when conversing on a
cellular phone. The need for users to be on-call is recognized;
however, it is necessary to maintain an environment of quiet
study within the library and avoid disturbing others.
Children
The HSC Library exists primarily to serve the teaching and
research needs of students, faculty, staff and other adult scholars
who make up the University community. Neither our building nor
our services were designed to meet the requirements of children
as public libraries do. We are concerned not only that children
not distract our regular readers, but also that the children
themselves not get hurt in a building not planned with their
safety in mind.
We accordingly urge you not to bring your children
into the Library except briefly, to avoid great inconvenience
to yourself, while you conduct your business with the Library.
We offer the children themselves no library services.
Under no circumstances can we permit children
in the Library if not accompanied by a responsible supervising
adult.
If you cannot avoid bringing a small child into
the Library with you, please make your visit brief and observe
the following precautions:
1.Be very careful of such hazards as the elevators,
electrical equipment and, the open staircase, and automatic
doors. The automatic doors and open staircase are very tempting
to some children and potentially very dangerous for them.
2.Children are not allowed at the public workstations
or other terminals located in any areas of the Library. This
expensive equipment is provided for scholarly research only.
3.Do not let your child disturb others. Any complaint
from a regular reader will be heeded.
4.You must keep your child at your side at all
times.
Computer Use Policy
The Health Science Center Libraries provide public use computers to facilitate University community access to locally held and remotely stored electronic data. Equipment and electronic resources are accessible during all library service hours. Staff are available to assist users in meeting their information needs with the computers.
In compliance with the University of Florida’s computer use policy, the HSC Libraries require individuals to sign on with their GatorLink account in order to use library computers. Current UF students, faculty & staff are expected to have a GatorLink username and password. If you don’t have a GatorLink account, you can create a new account at http://www.gatorlink.ufl.edu/. Always remember to logoff the computer when you are finished working to protect your account.
Public-use computers (for non-UF personnel) that do not need a username and password to login are available on the 1st floor of the HSC Library.
Computers and networks are state assets. Use them in a responsible, ethical and lawful manner. Comply with local, state, and federal laws (including copyright law), with University rules and policies, and with applicable contracts including software licenses. Commercial activities not related to meeting academic information needs of the University of Florida are prohibited.
Absolutely no food or drink is permitted on or near the computers.
Respect other users of Library computers and do not harass or interfere with them.
Observe posted time limits and regulations.
Respect the privacy and property of all files on the computer system. Do not alter or erase a file without explicit permission to do so. The ability to alter a file does not imply permission to do so.
Observe copyright notices and warning screens and comply with copyright law. Digital content and materials on the internet are protected under copyright law. Unauthorized distribution, reproduction, or transmission is illegal, and offenders are subject to prosecution.
Deliberately crashing, vandalizing, or otherwise compromising a computer or network, degrading performance, or consuming large amounts of system resources are serious offenses and may result in loss of library privileges and disciplinary action.
Use your correct name and identification number whenever prompted. Do not attempt to bypass computer security facilities, discover passwords, make unauthorized connections or break into or affect the performance of any other computer system on local or worldwide networks.
The Library has the right to examine any file, backup archive, electronic mail, or printer listing as part of normal system administration.
Recreational use of computers is permitted, contingent on the availability of computers. Academic information needs have priority.
Display of pornographic materials in any form is strictly prohibited.
The Libraries monitor all computer activity and may terminate any computer session that is consuming excessive resources or refuse access to any person who has violated Library or University policy. The Libraries will report infractions of these policies to the Office of Student Affairs or the appropriate law-enforcement agency. Any infraction could result in the loss of library privileges and disciplinary action.
Report improper incidents or other apparent violations of University policies to a library staff member immediately.
Computers must be used in accordance with library and university policy and procedures listed above. Any violation may lead to loss of these privileges.
Read the University of Florida’s computer use policy.
Disturbances
An environment conducive to quiet study and research can
occur only with the cooperation and support of EVERYONE. Social
activities should take place in other campus facilities or off
campus, not in the libraries. Accordingly, persons determined
by the library staff to be disruptive to a quiet study atmosphere
may expect to be asked, and are required, to remove themselves
from the library immediately.
Loud conversations among library patrons will
not be tolerated. Individuals who disregard the quiet study
atmosphere will be asked to leave the library immediately.
Actions which will result in disciplinary action
are: disorderly conduct, abusive language, or actions toward
library staff or other users of the libraries.
If at any time a situation gets out of control,
the staff member/s involved should call UPD (2-1111) and report
it. If the staff member or UPD sees fit, the persons involved
may be issued a warning or be trespassed from the University.
