The two books selected represent academic work (Riviere's Comparative Pharmacokinetics) and life outside of the ivory tower (Gurney's How to Live with a Calculating Cat).

My life as a veterinary clinician and researcher began and has returned full circle to trying to understand the interaction between animals and drugs, so the choice of a major text by a colleague seems appropriate.

The other choice has guided me in surviving my wife's cats. I have come to realize my role in the feline hierarchy is a provider of food and shelter ... and a place for them to scratch on our formerly pristine furniture.
