Merchants of Immortality: Chasing the Dream
of Human Life Extension
~ Steven S. Hall

The book Merchants of Immortality summarizes the new field of regenerative medicine, and as the title suggests, the possibility for applying the exciting findings from this discipline toward extending life span. Stem cell biology has garnered most of the attention to date within this field.

This book presents a rather complete story of the emergence of stem cell research, the discovery of the enzyme (telomerase) that is sure to play a role in reversing the senescence of cells, and how the players in this field have contributed to many reversals of dogma and to an already rather colorful history.

It is a great read that is sure to broaden one's knowledge of issues related to stem cells, cloning and the search for new approaches to curing all human diseases.
