I selected The Placebo Effect: An Interdisciplinary
Exploration (edited by Anne Harrington) because
it illustrates the wonder and power of the mind-body
relationship, as well as the complexities of trying
to scientifically understand and demonstrate this
compelling paradox from different disciplines’
perspectives.
My
other selection, The Horse and the Lion,
is the first book written by my daughter Brianna at
the age of 5. In this book, the lion steals gold from
a horse but later realizes that by sharing, he receives
a far greater gift – the gift of friendship.
In its simplicity, this book elegantly captures one
true essence of humanity.
