Gator 1 Card  
Note: An activated Gator 1 Card is required to request material through Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loan

A Gator 1 ID is the official identification card of the University of Florida. The program you enrolled in may facilitate your getting an ID. Contact your program's administrator or the Gator 1 offices on campus. If you need to obtain a Gator 1 Card for yourself, contact the UF ID Card Services office to acquire a Gator 1 Card without being present on campus.

Activating a Gator 1 Card
can be done by completing the form on the Online Services and Requests page. You will receive a response from the Circulation Desk within 48 business hours. As soon as your card is activated, you may use it to connect via the EZproxy or request ILL/Document Delivery materials.
Document Delivery  

If you need to obtain a copy of an article that UF has available only in print, use the Document Delivery Service. Mail, fax, and WebPDF delivery formats are available. Complete the forms with all your citation and delivery informtaion. For shortest turn around time, chose the WebPDF option. WebPDF articles can be available in about 48 hours. Charges apply. The general charge is $5.00 per item. See the Document Delivery page for details.


Interlibrary Loan   

If you need access to an article that UF does not own, use the Interlibrary Loan Service. Mail, fax, and WebPDF delivery formats are available.Complete the forms with all your citation and delivery informtaion. For shortest turn around time, chose the WebPDF option. Because the material is coming from other libraries, turn around times for ILL vary, but articles are usually available in less than 1 week. Charges apply. The general charge is $5.00 per item. Borrowing Materials from UF  

If you have an activated Gator 1 Card, you can come to the libraries and check out books from either the Borland Library Jacksonville or the Health Science Center Library in Gainesville. Books are not sent through the mail to individual users. However, copies of book chapters and articles can be requested through Document Delivery or Interlibrary Loan.


Place a Hold on an Item  

To make sure that an item is available for your use when you come to campus you can place a hold on it.


Borrowing Materials from Other Florida State University and Community College Libraries  

If you are in Florida you may borrow material from other SUL and Community College Libraries. You will need an activated Gator 1 card to identify yourself as a UF student. For more information about borrowing materials, check with the libraries closest to you.
